Luna EMG + Stella Bio Integration: Comprehensive Neuro-Rehabilitation

The integration of Robotic Rehabilitation and advanced Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) creates a powerful closed-loop environment for neurological recovery. By pairing EGZOTech’s flagship devices— Luna EMG and Stella Bio —clinicians can provide a seamless, EMG-driven recovery pathway for patients with stroke, spinal cord injuries, and severe orthopedic impairments. The Clinical Synergy: Intent-Driven Neuroplasticity. Both devices rely on a shared core philosophy: rewarding the patient's voluntary effort. Instead of relying purely on passive mobilization, both Luna and Stella utilize the world's most sensitive electromyography (EMG) to detect even the faintest muscle activation and reward it with functional output. Step 1: Neuromuscular Activation (Stella Bio) The Stella Bio serves as the portable catalyst for paralyzed or severely weakened muscles (Lovett Scale 0-2). EMG-FES: Utilizing EMG-triggered functional electrical stimulation, Stella Bio detects faint bioelectrical signals and immediately delivers targeted electrical muscle stimulation (EMS). This forces the muscle to contract, closing the sensorimotor loop and helping the brain relearn coordination., Spasticity Management & TENS: Before robotic therapy begins, Stella Bio can be used to deliver targeted TENS for pain management or specific EMS to relax spastic antagonist muscles. Step 2: Functional Robotic Training (Luna EMG) Once the muscles are activated and primed, the Luna EMG provides the biomechanical framework for complex movement. Reactive Robotic Assistance: Luna uses the same reactive EMG principles to control multi-joint upper or lower limb movements. When the patient attempts to move, Luna detects the muscle activity and provides the exact amount of robotic force needed to complete the range of motion., Dynamic Resistance: As the patient regains strength through the Stella Bio's FES, the Luna EMG can transition from assisting movement to providing elastic resistance or weight-lifting protocols to build muscle hypertrophy. Key Clinical Applications:. Post-Stroke Rehabilitation: Rewiring the motor cortex by combining electrical sensory feedback (Stella) with robotic kinesthetic feedback (Luna)., Spinal Cord Injury (SCI): Preventing disuse atrophy with high-frequency EMS and promoting active-assisted movement through robotic mobilization., Bed-Side Early Intervention: Utilizing the portability of Stella Bio and the mobility of Luna EMG in Intensive Care Units (ICU) to engage patients in active therapy immediately following trauma or surgery.
