Medoc

Highly specialized and widely scientifically endorsed quantitative sensory testing (QST) devices. Our line includes thermal stimulators like the Q-Sense, Algomed, TSA2 Air, and the TSA2 family of devices.

Q-Sense

Q-Sense is a portable, easy-to-use, and affordable quantitative sensory testing (QST) device for clinical, research, and pharmacologic trial use. It offers scientifically validated measures of warm, cool, and heat-pain thermal sensory thresholds. All of these can be useful determinants in the evaluation of peripheral sensory nerve function, neuropathic pain, diabetes, chemotherapeutic, and other small-fiber neuropathies.

Q-Sense Features
  • Light, portable and air cooled device.
  • Goes as low as 16 degrees C
  • Can be used for heat & mechanical pain threshold
  • Sensitive and reproducible
  • Pre-programmed test algorithms
  • Versatile patient database
  • Normative reference data
TSA 2

TSA 2 is a robust, portable device offers thermal stimulation in the full range from sensation to pain, in heat and cold, using one or two thermodes simultaneously.

TSA 2 Features
  • Fast thermal stimulation rates
  • Precise thermal pain stimulation temperature control
  • Rapid thermal stimulation rates - up to 13°C/sec
  • External Control capability to develop dynamic protocols using MATLAB® and similar platforms
  • Dual thermode abilities for simultaneous stimulation to facilitate CPM and other advanced protocols
  • Plug-and-play MRI use. Upgradeable for the fMRI imaging environment
  • CHEPS thermode - for accelerated rates
  • Various thermode sizes - 30x30, 16x16, 30x30 fMRI, 16x16 fMRI, CHEPS, CHEPS fMRI, Intraoral and Intravaginal
TSA2 Air

TSA2 Air is a portable air-cooled quantitative sensory testing (QST) device with a full range of thermal stimuli, from cool/warm sensations to cold/heat pain. It has faster rates than the Q-Sense and is heavier to carry around.

TSA2 Air Features
  • The air-cooling technology allows the broadest range of temperatures from 0-53°C.
  • Fast speeds (up to 10°C/Sec.) to assess peripheral and central pain processing using paradigms of phasic and tonic temporal summation, and endogenous analgesia paradigms like conditioned pain modulation (CPM) or offset analgesia.
  • Tonic heat and cold, in the form of noxious and non-noxious stimuli, can be applied using the TSA2 Air.
  • TTL In and Out for synchronization with other types of stimuli or physiological recording techniques
  • External control through Matlab, Phyton, and other platforms.

The system uses a thermode and we have most normative data gathered with the 30*30 mm size thermode, so that would give you reference data. However, we also have smaller thermodes like the 16*16, or the intraoral which may best suit smaller surfaces of the body like places in the face, or on the genitalia, for instance. This all depends on the types of patients you intend to do QST on.

AlgoMed

AlgoMed – Computerized Pressure Algometer is the first software-based computerized Algometer to offer real-time visual & auditory feedback to control & monitor applied pressure rates. Algometers are designed to quantify and document levels of tenderness via pressure pain threshold measurement and pain sensitivity via pressure pain tolerance measurement. Pressure algometry is a reliable measure of pain in muscles, fascia, joints, tendons, ligaments, and the periosteum.
